2005
Brimmond Hill
King's Links
Perwinnes Commonty
Tullos Industrial Estate
I have subsequently been informed that Perwinnes Commonty does not form part of the Common Good and in March 2007 was sent an Excel spreadsheet with Common Good assets and valuations.
Common Good Fund
Aberdeen has a Common Good Fund with a balance of £45,313,000 at 31 March 2007 according to the unaudited 2006-07 Accounts which are available for downloading here. Aberdeen's Common Good Fund is the largest in Scotland.
My Commentary
The City of Aberdeen has a significant inheritance of common good land, most of it dating back to the feudal grant of King Robert Bruce of the so-called Freedom Lands. An interesting Minute of the Aberdeen Civic Forum provides the transcript of a talk by Gordon Edwards, Corporate Director of Finance and ICT Services in the Council given on 22 November 2003. In it he outlines the background to the fund and answers questions.
