Aberdeen
City Council

Aberdeen City Council scores 9/10, the joint best performance with Angus
Council.
In the course of our 2005 enquiries there was some confusion over the extent
of information held by the Council on their Common Good assets. At the time
of publication of our report, very little information had been provided to us.
However, it later transpired that this had been due to our enquiry not being
forwarded to the correct person.
Aberdeen City Council has a Common Good Fund which is in a healthy financial position and the Council hold good records of their assets. In addition, they published a factsheet on their website which I have a copy of but which no longer appears at the url from which it was obtained in 2005.
Listed below are the Common Good Accounts for 2003 - 2007.
Common Good Accounts for the year 2002 - 2003
Common Good Accounts for the year 2003 - 2004
Common Good Accounts for the year 2004 - 2005
Common Good Accounts for the year 2005 - 2006
Common Good Accounts for the year 2006 - 2007 (unaudited)
During a search on the internet I also found the Minutes of a Meeting of Aberdeen Civic Forum on 22 November 2003 which includes notes on a presentation about the Common Good Fund given by Gordon Edwards, Director of Finance. It contains some interesting information and a useful series of questions and answers. From this Minute it appears that there exist maps of the Common Good lands of Aberdeen. I have not seen these but will make enquiries (October 2007).
