City Council

Glasgow City Council scores 4/10.
On the face of it, Glasgow City Council administers the Common Good Fund of the City with diligence. However, the list of assets provided by them (see Glasgow page) is manifestly incomplete. Recent rows over the leasing of vast numbers of (as yet unidentified_ Common Good assets to an arms length company, Culture & Sport Glasgow, caused huge controversy and, more recently, in November 2007, it was revealed that part of the site proposed for a nightclub development in the Botanics was Common Good land. Why did the Council not know this?
These stories undermine the notion that the Council is properly stewarding the assets of the people.
More details of the Fund and assets are given at the Glasgow page in the Burghs section of the website.
