North
Lanarkshire Council

North Lanarkshire Council scores 0/10.
There are 4 former burghs within North Lanarkshire Council.
The Council declined to provide any information on Common Good assets of these burghs because the cost of complying with our request would exceed the amount prescribed by the Freedom of Information Regulations.
Upon telephoning the Council to enquire why this was (many other councils managed to produce the information quickly and easily), I was told that the Council "does not hold this information. We have over 10,000 property titles and we would have to examine ever one to determine what is and what isn't Common Good."
In other words North Lanarkshire Council does not have a clue what Common Good assets it holds on behalf of the residents of its 5 former burghs.
In the Accounts of North Lanarkshire Council for 2005/06 there is no mention of any Common good Funds.
Clearly, more probing is required by the residents of the 5 burghs.
