South Lanarkshire Council provided details of Common Good assets in Hamilton, Lanark and Rutherglen but did not provide any details of assets in Biggar.
The Council does, however, provide details of all 4 Common Good Funds.
A big issue with South Lanarkshire Council is it's management of the Hamilton Common Good Fund. As part of the Hamilton Ahead Initiative (a redevelopment of the town centre), the Council has sold £ 53,267,000 of Common Good land in Hamilton. This has been the principle source of finance for the redevelopment.
However, the Hamilton Common Good Fund has capital assets of only £5,870,000 and it appears that the assets that have been created by the redevelopment and paid for by the sale of Hamilton Common God Fund assets are not being credited to the Hamilton Common Good Fund. They should be.
